Lirrin of Eristan
Rules for Students of the Healing Arts
-
No teaching *anyone* healing spells without prior permission. This
does not include minor_heal_self, minor_heal_other, lesser_heal_self,
or lesser_heal_other. You may "teach" people while they practice spells,
but do not give them new healing spells.
-
No fighting with anyone or anything unless absolutely necessary. It
takes a long time to work up healing skills, and time spent fighting is
time you're not learning how to heal. It's also not good form for
"healers" to be killing things, is it?
If you are attacked, you may run, call for help, or continue the fight
as you choose, though fighting is severely frowned upon.
-
Charge at least what the guild requires for healing services.
You may charge more if you choose. You may heal on credit, as long as
you collect on it. If you have difficulty collecting, come to me; we
have a volunteer "collection agency" for just such occasions.
-
Heal fairly, everyone who asks politely and pays. You _may_ turn down
a request for a heal, but have an ethical, supportable reason.
The guild has a reputation to maintain, and turning down requests for
healing for weak reasons, or based on personal dislike, is not acceptible.
-
Learn minor_heal_other and lesser_heal_other up to average before being
taught you any other spells. You will be taught higher spells, one at a
time, at the guild elders' discretion.
-
Resurrections are to be performed at the Hall. If you go into the field
and do one, the monster who killed the patient may kill him/her again
as soon as the resurrection is complete, and this time it will be
permanent. You may go into the field at your discretion if you feel it
is justified, but warn the client, and collect your fee *even if* this
situation occurs.
In return for following the above points, you will receive benefits
and teaching as follows:
-
Your resurrections will be free, if need arises and there is a guild
member with the skill necessary available. Please, try not to get
yourself killed; as a healer, your fights should be minimal.
-
The guild may pay for some of your food, amulets, etc, depending on
what we negotiate and what need arises. We will not let you starve.
-
Whatever money you make as a healer, you keep, at least until such
time as we need to collect dues or pay for hall improvments, etc.
-
Elders will "teach" while you practice as they have time. Older students
have priority over newer students.
We reserve the right to discontinue training if we find you have broken
a rule or done something unethical/immoral.
Minimum fees for healing services:
|
Resurrection:
|
10 suns (surcharge for ogres with destroyed limbs: 2 suns)
|
|
Restore limb:
|
1 ignoble per limb
|
|
Healing in general:
|
1 moon for each disabled limb
1 moon for healing overall at very near death
your discretion for other requests
|
In each case, healing is usually to full health. You may stop at the point
where the patient will heal naturally, if you or the patient wish it.
Pricing information here is wildly out of date. See the bulletin
board in the Eristan Healers' Hall for current information. -ed.
