Race: Elf
---------

Elves are a lithe, graceful people with slightly pointed ears and almond shaped eyes. They are intelligent and very sensual. Elven poetry is said to be the most beautiful in Ferdarchi. Despite their smaller bodies and weaker constitutions, Elves are very skillful fighters and are well renowned for their swordwork and bowmanship. Elves make their homelands in the deep forests throughout Ferdarchi and because of this and their natural agility, they often make excellent scouts and rogues. Although not as strong as humans, Elves have very dexterous fingers which they employ in the respected trades such as sewing and woodworking or the less respected such as lock picking or pilfering. Fascinated by beautiful things, Elves have always been deeply interested in magic and many are well respected healers and magi. Elves tend to be considered frivolous by other races, but their nature is one of joy of the world they live in and peace, playfulness, and happiness therein.

Elf

Elves are the most long-lived of the people of Ferdarchi. This longevity gives the elvish people a unique outlook on life. They tend to view the trials and tribulations not from the standpoint of day to day life, but rather from the point of view of centuries. While individuals in elvish society will act on something quickly, the society as a whole will debate and ponder the situation until they believe that they have arrived upon the solution. However, once they do decide, they act decisively. This was nearly the end of the orcish race in the First Great War.

Many people believe that elves are immortal, until someone slays them. They believe that old elves merely feel a calling to go to another place, somewhere beyond the seas. This is patently untrue. While elves do live a very long time, they do eventually grow old, and they can die of old age.

It is nearly impossible to date the beginning of elvish culture. This is because elves quite literally just wandered in out of the woods one day, and decided that they would finally take part in the so called civilized town dwelling societies. Elves have always preferred to live in nature, generally in temporary dwellings. After elves began to live in towns, they constructed one of their own. It was constructed solely by elvish workers and is the only known location of a solely elvish town. It is refereed to in all the texts that I have read simply as the Elvish City. Its deserted streets can still be found today on an island in the great lake to the south of Eristan.

Elves quite resemble tall slender humans with pointed ears. Their coloration tends to be the same, although I have never seen an elf with curly hair.
